The Island Paradise of Hilton Head, South Carolina



Hilton Head, South Carolina, is a unique resort town nestled at the very southern tip of the state. It is an island located in the Atlantic Ocean, making it a popular destination for visitors all year round. The island of Hilton Head, South Carolina, contains the town of the same name. The island has a wealth of recreational activities, as well as its famous beaches. Hilton Head has 12 miles of powdery white sand beaches, and that's only one of its many draws.

In Hilton Head, South Carolina, there are also world-class golf courses, many opportunities for fine dining, as well as unique shopping destinations. All of these attractions are bringing visitors to the area in droves. In 2004 alone, more than 2 million tourists came to Hilton Head, South Carolina, to partake of its beauty and entertainment.

Much of the island is made up of several large, gated communities. As much as 70% of the entire island is made up of these communities. These gated communities also encompass much of the tourist destination areas.
